Meet Freddy
 Freddy
was left orphaned in the year 2000 after both his parents died of
AIDS. After the death of his parents Freddy and his sister were
brought to live with an older cousin, a peasant woman with many
of her own children to care for. When we first met Freddy in February
of 2002, at eight years old he was working in the sugar cane fields
with his cousin in order to make a few cents a day. He had no shoes,
very little clothes, and was living in a one room mud hut with eleven
other people! At eight years old he had not yet attended school.
Freddy's sister finding life very difficult in this
situation ran away to the streets, and Freddy would have surely
followed in her footsteps had CCI not intervened. We have now placed
Freddy in a loving foster home where he is being properly cared
for and he is able to attend school for the very first time.
